A mix of trends in prices of framing lumber emerged across producing regions. Trends varied based on species, product groups, and even volumes sold. Gains were most pronounced in Western S-P-F, with #2&Btr 2x4 standing out; mill prices surged $20-30 for the week. Prices of green Douglas Fir, which had bounced off lows the previous week, flattened, while double-digit price moves in either direction were posted in Coast dry framing. Myriad factors pulled Southern Pine in both directions, as well.<\/p>\n

Price declines outnumbered gains in structural panel markets. Sales of OSB were modest in most regions, and prices adjusted in both directions. Buyers in the South confined purchases to immediate needs, citing concern about near-term downside risk. Southern Pine plywood trading was mixed and increasingly dependent on situational circumstances such as order volumes and destinations. Western Fir plywood trading was sluggish and sheathing prices were sloppy.<\/p>\n
