In the first eleven months of 2017, Latvia exported EUR 2.059 billion worth of forestry products, up 7 percent against the same period in 2016, according to data of the Latvian\u00a0Agriculture Ministry.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

Timber and timber products made up the bulk or 84.6 percent (84.9 percent a year ago) of total forestry product exports in the first 11 months of 2017, accounting for EUR 1.742 billion and rising 6.6 percent year-on-year.<\/p>\n

Timber exports in January-November last year included EUR 560.045 million worth of sawn timber, down 0.7 percent year-on-year. Firewood exports rose 0.4 percent to EUR 262.36 million, and plywood exports declined 12.6 percent to EUR 179.681 million. Exports of woodchip plates increased 21.2 percent to EUR 176.474 million, and round-timber exports fell 3.4 percent to EUR 124.909 million.<\/p>\n

Furniture exports grew 1.6 percent year-on-year to EUR 137.889 million in the first 11 months of last year, and exports of paper, cardboard and their products rose 11.4 percent year-on-year to EUR 109.275 million.<\/p>\n

In January- November last year, Latvia supplied its forestry products mainly to the UK (17.1 percent), Estonia (10.9 percent) and Germany (10 percent). As compared to the first 11 months of 2016, forestry industry exports to the UK dropped 3.6 percent to EUR 352.697 million, exports to Estonia increased 20.1 percent to EUR 225.501 million, and exports to Germany rose 6.1 percent to EUR 205.105 million.<\/p>\n
