Softwood lumber\u00a0exports\u00a0from Belarus to\u00a0the European Union countries\u00a0have went up during January - September 2017, by 47%, to a total of 1,262,007 m3.<\/em><\/p>\n

The EU top importer was Germany, which increased its softwood lumber imports from Belarus by 43%, to a total volume of\u00a0387,869 m3, during the mentioned period. Latvia also increased its imports, by 105%, to\u00a0270,036 m3, followed by Lithuania, where the softwood lumber imports from Belarus went 41% up, to\u00a0245,085 m3.<\/p>\n

Starting January 1st 2015, Belarus has banned the\u00a0exports of unprocessed wood, so the\u00a0logs deliveries to Europe have stopped ever since. The decision was made by\u00a0the Belarusian president, Aleksandr Lukashenko, as to raise the\u00a0volumes of wood\u00a0processed within the country.<\/p>\n
