IKEA wants to lower its furniture and home decor products prices for the Indian audience before it opens\u00a0its first store in Hyderabad in 2018.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

The Swedish retailer is working on lowering the costs as to make the products available for a larger audience in India, bearing in mind that organized\u00a0home furnishing retail in the country\u00a0is relatively exclusive. Also, IKEA is set upon the middle class, rather than the lower class and the prices for designs and products will be lower than anywhere else.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn the cities where we will be present, we want everyone who has a home furnishing need to come to our stores. There will be something for everyone at Ikea<\/em>,\u201d said Patrik Antoni, deputy country manager at Ikea India Pvt. Ltd.<\/p>\n

As reported by Live Mint, in India, Ikea will have a product range that starts at Rs150 for a pack of two light-emitting diode (LED) bulbs and Rs500 for a pack of 100 tea lights. In the furniture category, a table from its Lack series can cost Rs500-600 and a complete Ikea kitchen can be assembled on an average for Rs2.5-3 lakh.<\/p>\n

IKEA's global position is that of an affordable retailer. Yet, if the company wants to account for 45% of the household in\u00a0Hyderabad, they will need to be even cheaper.<\/p>\n

The Swedish furniture retailer got\u00a0permission to open stores in India under its single-brand retail policy over 4 years ago. After it will launch its first store in 2018, IKEA's plan is to reach 25 stores by 2025 and also increase the local sourcing as to\u00a0contribute to over 30% of its supply chain by then.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
