SCA, the leading global hygiene and forest products company, has started the work on splitting the SCA Group into two listed companies: hygiene and forest products.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

The Swedish company wants to propose the split during the 2017 Annual General Meeting, while the work for it is proceeding according to plan.<\/p>\n

The total costs for the potential split of the SCA Group are estimated to be approximately SEK 1,070m, including project and listing costs of approximately SEK 320m, one-time foreign tax on non-current assets outside Sweden of approximately SEK 450m, and brand-related costs of approximately SEK 300m.<\/p>\n

Of the total costs, approximately SEK 120m are expected to affect financial items, approximately SEK 155m are expected to affect equity, and approximately SEK 795m are expected to affect items affecting comparability. Of the total costs, SEK 80m affected the fourth quarter of 2016, of which SEK 68m affected financial items and SEK 12m affected items affecting comparability.<\/p>\n

SCA Group announced about the intention to split the company in August 2016, when it said that 85% of the group sales derives from the hygiene business and about 15% from the forest products business. In case of a split, there will be two listed companies. One will be a hygiene company including SCA\u2019s current business areas Personal Care and Tissue.<\/p>\n

The second, a forest products company including all forest products operations and all the forest land owned by the SCA Group. The intention announced back then was that the new listed hygiene company receives a new name and is registered in Stockholm and the forest products company keeps the name SCA and is registered in Sundsvall.<\/p>\n

In September 2016, the insurance company Skandia and the private equity company Nordic Capital were, reportedly, behind the bid for SCA's forestry section, which is worth approximately SEK 40-50 billion.<\/p>\n

SCA is Europe's biggest private owner of forests. Its hygiene business is the world's largest maker of incontinence pads and No.2 in consumer tissues such as napkins and toilet paper. Its forestry arm produces paper, pulp and wood products.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
