Sales of framing lumber picked up overall, but downside pressure on prices intensified in a few regions, namely the Inland West and South. A few curtailments in Western Canada drew attention, and contributed to a mildly firmer tone in the S-P-F market. But the downward price trend was unabated and grew steeper in Southern Pine. Traders in many SYP markets said this was due in part to competitively priced Canadian S-P-F. All told, the Random Lengths Framing Lumber Composite Price fell $6, to $321.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

Random Lengths Panel Market Report<\/strong><\/p>\n

Structural panel trading was mixed, but the pace slowed overall. Sales of OSB hit a higher gear, but activity\u00a0at the mill level didn\u2019t accelerate in all producing regions. The biggest gains of the week were reported in the North Central region. Southern Pine plywood sales were light, and most mills finished the week with loads of rated sheathing available for shipment next week. Western Fir plywood prices declined, although the cuts were less severe than they were the previous week. Activity varied by mill and among secondaries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n
