EBITDA declined by half to SEK 117 million (EUR 10.5 million). Slightly higher selling prices provided only a partial offset.

Deliveries fell to 489,000 m³, compared with 532,000 m³ a year earlier and 500,000 m³ in the second quarter.

Lower wood costs bring some relief

Results improved compared with the previous quarter. Lower raw material costs helped EBITDA rise 31%, from SEK 89 million (EUR 8.0 million), despite lower sales volumes and slightly weaker selling prices.

The quarterly figures show how far earnings have fallen. EBITDA reached SEK 310 million (EUR 27.9 million) in Q2 2025 before dropping to SEK 49 million (EUR 4.4 million) in Q1 2026. It has since recovered for two consecutive quarters.

Spruce sells more readily than pine

SCA described European demand as normal for the season, with spruce continuing to attract stronger demand than pine. Producer stocks in Sweden and Finland remained high for pine and normal for spruce, although overall inventories were below year-earlier levels. Customers were estimated to be holding limited stocks.

Selling prices slipped compared with Q2, mainly because lower-quality products made from wind-felled timber represented a larger share of sales. SCA continued processing wood from forests affected by the storm at the end of 2025.

SCA wood division

Sales, deliveries and earnings · SEK million (EUR million), unless stated

Indicator

Q3 2025

Q2 2026

Q3 2026

Year-on-year

Wood products deliveries (m³)

532,000

500,000

489,000

−8%

Net sales

1,544 (138.7)

1,524 (136.9)

1,446 (129.9)

−6%

EBITDA

232 (20.8)

89 (8.0)

117 (10.5)

−50%

EBITDA margin

15.0%

5.8%

8.1%

−6.9 pp

Operating profit

159 (14.3)

17 (1.5)

43 (3.9)

−73%

Operating margin

10.3%

1.1%

3.0%

−7.3 pp

GWMI

SCA’s wood division reported a sharp fall in profit in the third quarter of 2026, as it sold less lumber while paying more for raw materials and distribution than a year earlier.
