Sawlog prices continued to decline, while standing-sale pulpwood prices recorded larger monthly falls.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>September purchases were twice the August volume and 50% higher than a year earlier. They also exceeded the average for September over the previous five years by 6%, according to the Natural Resources Institute Finland (Luke).<\/p>\n<p>The stronger month only partly reduced the shortfall accumulated earlier in the year. January\u2013September purchases remained 14% below the corresponding period of 2025 and 16% below the five-year average for the period.<\/p>\n<p>In standing sales, the average spruce sawlog price fell to EUR 83.26\/m\u00b3 and pine to EUR 77.08\/m\u00b3. Both recorded a 1% decline from August in inflation-adjusted terms. Birch sawlogs averaged EUR 62.27\/m\u00b3, down 2%.<\/p>\n<p>Compared with the average for the whole of 2025, September\u2019s real prices were 1% lower for spruce sawlogs, 6% lower for pine and 7% lower for birch. Spruce therefore remained closest to its previous-year average.<\/p>\n<p>Pulpwood prices fell more sharply. Standing-sale spruce pulpwood averaged EUR 24.21\/m\u00b3, down 4% in real terms from August. Pine declined 3% to EUR 22.42\/m\u00b3, while birch fell 4% to EUR 22.34\/m\u00b3. All three were substantially below their full-year 2025 averages, with real declines of 28\u201330%.<\/p>\n<p>Delivery-sale prices moved in different directions. Pine pulpwood rose 2% from August to EUR 41.49\/m\u00b3, and birch gained 3% to EUR 43.34\/m\u00b3. Spruce fell 2% to EUR 42.87\/m\u00b3.
