Estonian wood products manufacturer Palmako has entered Lithuania through the acquisition of J\u016br\u0117s Medis, one of the Baltic region\u2019s larger producers of glued laminated timber structures.<\/p>\n
The transaction, completed on September 30, gives Palmako a production base in Lithuania and strengthens its position in higher value-added engineered wood products. The acquisition forms part of the company\u2019s strategy to expand internationally and increase its exposure to technically more advanced timber construction products.<\/p>\n
J\u016br\u0117s Medis was established in 1974 and employs around 85 people. The company generated sales of \u20ac11.8 million in 2025, with approximately 80% of its production exported.<\/p>\n
The Lithuanian producer brings additional glulam capacity, engineering expertise and experience in project-based structural timber. Palmako expects the acquisition to improve its ability to participate in larger and more technically complex construction projects.<\/p>\n
Palmako, founded in 1997, employs around 400 people across four production units in Estonia. The company recorded sales of \u20ac76 million in 2025 and exports about 90% of its production to more than 40 countries.<\/p>\n
Palmako management board member Rain Raudsepp said the acquisition would support growth through new products, additional know-how and stronger engineering capabilities as timber construction moves towards increasingly complex structures.<\/p>\n
Both companies will continue their existing day-to-day operations and customer relationships, while production, sales and engineering activities are expected to be integrated gradually.<\/p>\n
Palmako is part of Estonia-based Lemeks Group. The acquisition of J\u016br\u0117s Medis expands the group\u2019s industrial footprint into Lithuania and strengthens its presence in the Baltic engineered timber market.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
