Danish specialist timber merchant PrimaTr\u00e6 has been placed into bankruptcy after little more than four years in business.<\/p>\n
The Horsens Bankruptcy Court opened proceedings against PrimaTr\u00e6 ApS on September 17, following a petition filed on September 11. Lawyer S\u00f8ren Christensen Volder has been appointed trustee, according to Denmark's official bankruptcy register.<\/p>\n
PrimaTr\u00e6 operated from Galten, west of Aarhus, supplying both private and professional customers. The company focused on specialist timber rather than the broader builders' merchant market, with a range including European oak, thermally modified ash and pine, Douglas fir and robinia.<\/p>\n
The business was founded in 2022 under the name Inwood ApS and later changed its name to PrimaTr\u00e6.<\/p>\n
Its financial position had been weak for several years. PrimaTr\u00e6 recorded losses in each of its published annual accounts, including DKK 327,000 (around \u20ac44,000) in 2024. By the end of that year, equity had fallen to negative DKK 1.02 million (about -\u20ac136,000).<\/p>\n
Management had previously acknowledged that more than half of the company's capital had been lost and expected the position to improve through future earnings.<\/p>\n
Changes accelerated during the summer of 2026. Founder Jonas Bernt Hansen stepped down as managing director in August, and the company entered liquidation at the end of that month. The bankruptcy petition followed less than two weeks later.<\/p>\n
No detailed explanation for the final collapse has so far been made public.<\/p>\n
PrimaTr\u00e6 had built its business around higher-value timber products, particularly oak and thermally modified wood. The company sourced oak from several European sawmills and sold boards, planks, mouldings, sleepers and other products for construction and outdoor applications.<\/p>\n
The company had also spoken publicly about the growing administrative burden facing smaller timber importers. In 2025, Hansen raised concerns about the resources required to comply with the incoming EUDR regime. There is no indication, however, that regulatory costs were the cause of the bankruptcy, and PrimaTr\u00e6's financial difficulties were already visible in its earlier accounts.<\/p>\n
The bankruptcy ends a relatively short period of expansion for the eastern Jutland timber merchant, while the appointed trustee now assesses the company's assets and creditor claims.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
