Karl Hedin has put more than 2,000 hectares of forest land on the market in central Sweden, extending a larger reshaping of his timber and forest holdings.<\/p>\n

Six properties in Dalarna, V\u00e4stmanland and \u00d6rebro are currently being marketed by Areal. Together they cover about 2,018 hectares and carry asking prices totalling SEK 288.6 million (EUR 25.7 million).<\/p>\n

The largest property is Norr\u00e5l near Sala, with about 870 hectares and an asking price of SEK 125 million (EUR 11.1 million). Other holdings include N\u00e4ckenb\u00e4ck near Avesta, as well as properties at G\u00e5sn\u00e4sboda, Heden and K\u00f6ping.<\/p>\n

Hedin is not exiting Swedish forestry. He still owns close to 40,000 hectares and has also remained active as a buyer. The current sales are intended to reduce geographically scattered holdings and concentrate the portfolio in areas where the group already has a stronger presence.<\/p>\n

Several forest properties have already been sold under the programme, which has been handled by Areal since 2023.<\/p>\n

The latest offering follows a much larger series of transactions completed during 2025.<\/p>\n

Hedin sold his three Swedish sawmills at Karbenning, Krylbo and S\u00e4ter to Vida. The mills had combined annual production of around 550,000 m\u00b3 of softwood lumber. The acquisition lifted Vida\u2019s total production capacity to roughly 3.3 million m\u00b3 per year.<\/p>\n

In Estonia, Hedin also sold his controlling interest in sawmill AS Toftan to Combiwood Group. The transaction was followed by the sale of Toftani Metsanduse, which controlled around 10,800 hectares of forest and land with approximately 1.1 million m\u00b3 of standing timber, to O\u00dc Metsavennaskond.<\/p>\n

The packaging business, AB Karl Hedin Emballage, was sold to Dansk Tr\u00e6emballage. It operated 11 production sites and employed around 275 people.<\/p>\n

The building-materials business was also considered for sale but was ultimately retained after Hedin decided that the offers received did not justify a transaction.<\/p>\n

The restructuring followed his decision to reduce his direct involvement in the industrial group after more than four decades. Hedin has said that his daughters do not intend to take over the business.<\/p>\n

The Swedish forest sales are different from the industrial disposals completed last year. Hedin is not selling the forest portfolio as a whole, but reshaping it by disposing of holdings outside the preferred geographical core while remaining open to acquisitions elsewhere.<\/p>\n

That leaves the group with a much smaller industrial footprint than two years ago, but still with extensive forest ownership in Sweden and the building-materials business under the Karl Hedin name.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
