Jartek has secured new thermal modification equipment orders in Cameroon and the United States, including a three-kiln project that will establish ThermoWood production in Africa for the first time.<\/p>\n
Three Jartek kilns will be installed at Sefeccam\u2019s sawmill in Douala as part of a project involving Sefeccam, LDCwood and RTT Houtimport.<\/p>\n
LDCwood, part of Belgium\u2019s Lemahieu Group, will market the thermally modified frak\u00e9 internationally under the new SanghaWood brand. The timber will be harvested, sawn and modified in Cameroon before export.<\/p>\n
Sefeccam manages more than 499,000 hectares of forest in the country. RTT Houtimport will continue to handle sales of non-modified hardwood from the company.<\/p>\n
The project is intended to retain more processing in Cameroon rather than exporting the timber for thermal modification elsewhere.<\/p>\n
Frak\u00e9 is used in fa\u00e7ades, decking, flooring, joinery, furniture and interior applications. Thermal modification improves dimensional stability and durability without the use of chemical preservatives.<\/p>\n
Jartek has also received a repeat order from Arbor Wood Co. in the United States.<\/p>\n
The company will supply a second thermal modification kiln to Arbor Wood\u2019s plant in St. Joe, Indiana. The new chamber will have a capacity of 45 m\u00b3 per batch and will be connected to the energy plant and control system installed with the first kiln.<\/p>\n
Arbor Wood ordered its first Jartek unit in 2024. The installation was designed so additional chambers could be added later without replacing the main energy and automation systems.<\/p>\n
The new kiln will increase Arbor Wood\u2019s production capacity for thermally modified hardwood and softwood products in the North American market.<\/p>\n
The company became the first permanent US member of the International ThermoWood Association in 2025.<\/p>\n
Jartek has been expanding its business in North America in recent years, including through subsidiaries in the US and Canada and thermal modification projects with companies such as Western Forest Products.<\/p>\n
The Cameroon order adds a new market for the Finnish supplier, while the Arbor Wood contract expands an existing installation.<\/p>\n
