Canadian lumber producer Groupe Rémabec will temporarily lay off more than 1,000 workers in Quebec, citing surging U.S. duties and weakening market conditions that have made operations unsustainable. The layoffs will affect Arbec Forest Products, Rémabec’s manufacturing division, which will shut down indefinitely.
