The output of plywood imports to Europe showed an important improvement in the first nine months of 2018. In value, imports grew by 5%, from the same period of 2017, with the top three sources of plywood showing mixed results: imports from Russia rose sharply by 13% (see table below); those from China only slightly by 3%, while those from Brazil went up by 28%. Indonesia and Chile were on the 4th and 5th place in the top 5 EU plywood imports countries. 

It seems that the European appetite for Russian plywood is continuing its growing pace as in last years, mostly due to the weakness of the Russian rouble against the euro and other EU currencies. A third of the Russian birch plywood goes to Germany, Latvia and Italy.
