Forestry companies in Germany are reporting drastically increased wood prices since the end of 2021.  The bark beetle infestation is taking a break. A lot of rain last year and up until February kept the soil in East Germany well supplied with water. Cool temperatures until mid-March prevented the bark beetle from starting early.  This, together with intense demand, has led to a rapid price increase in recent months, especially for spruce.
