Largest North American hardwood producer to close one of its sawmills due to trade war with China
The largest North American hardwood supplier will close one of its Washington sawmills because of the U.S.-China trade war, the company said. All of the mill's 70 employees will be laid off. Northwest Hardwoods, which operates the mill on Farm to Market Road, west of Burlington will close Nov. 20, according to a statement from a company spokesman. “This difficult decision was made after exploring all other options and as prospects dimmed for a quick resolution to the U.S. and China trade dispute,” the statement said.
