European softwood lumber exports to the United States increased by 39%
Due to an unprecedented domestic demand, US massively imported softwood lumber from Europe in the first seven months of the year and at skyrocketing prices. In January-July 2021, US's main source for European softwood was Germany with 1,37 million m3 and a share of 52 percent of the overall American imports from Europe. Sweden came second with 504 thousand m3 and a 3% decrease yoy. Significant growth rates were registered in U.S. imports from Romania (+109%).
