China imports more softwood and less hardwood lumber
In the first half of 2019, the total import of logs and lumber totaled 485.394 million cubic meters, amounting to 9.43 billion US dollars in January-June. Lumber imports increased slightly. China imported 18.83 million cubic meters of lumber in the first half of the year, valued at 4.43 billion US dollars, up 4% year-on-year, but the value dropped by 8%.
