The U.S. subsidiary of Austrian industrial group Andritz has agreed to pay a civil penalty of nearly $1.6 million to settle allegations it violated U.S. export controls by indirectly supplying equipment to Russia. According to the U.S. Department of Commerce’s Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS), Andritz Inc. exported 36 shipments of industrial machinery components—specifically, refiner plates used in pulp and paper production—to its German affiliate, Andritz Fiedler, between May 2023 and February 2024.
