Canadian softwood lumber exports to the United States could face tariffs and duties of up to 55% later this year, British Columbia's forests minister said on Friday, warning that the increase would drive up construction costs in the U.S. and hurt both economies. Ravi Parmar, who is on a trade mission in California, said the "Trump tariff and increased duties" could more than triple the current 14% duty on Canadian softwood lumber.
