The Austrian sawmilling industry is currently very well stocked with softwood sawlogs. High inventory levels, combined with weak sales markets, result in correspondingly low demand, which is mostly defined by the quantities of sawn timber sold. Except for Upper Austria and Styria, the transport of the provided roundwood usually proceeds quickly.
