French sawmill industry want to curb massive log exports to China
China is buying more and more French timber. The French National Timber Federation wants to curb these exports to protect the supply of French sawmills and processors. The wood industry is fed up. Chinese purchases of French oaks climbed 42% at the end of May, compared to 2020. And even 66% for softwood. And this increase in demand poses a problem: there is not enough left for European processors.
