The New Zealand forestry industry is currently experiencing a very difficult start to 2020. Prices for export logs dropped approximately NZ$11 per JASm3 in January as demand in China was starting to slow down and stock was building before the China New Year holiday period. The strengthening of the NZD against the USD also had a significant negative impact on the January prices.
