Swedish sawmills in jeopardy due to tight log supply caused by forest fires
Although consumption of wood raw-material by the Swedish forest industry has risen in 2017 and early 2018, sawmills have struggled to fill their inventories. Softwood log imports went up more than 25 per cent during the first four months of 2018 as compared to the same period in 2017 – even though the supply of imported hardwood logs has dropped.
